The Nigerian Export Promotion Council in 2020 initiated the Domestic Export Warehouse (DEW) aimed at tackling the logistics challenges of Nigeria’s non-oil exports. The ED/CEO Mr Segun Awolowo had unveiled the new measure before stakeholders including the Central Bank of Nigeria, NEPZA, NEXIM, NIRSAL, NAFDAC, CUSTOMS, Federal Ministry of Industry , Trade and Investment, Shippers Council, NPF, Federal Road Safety and NIPC.
Domestic Export Warehouse (DEW) is a proposed one-stop facility/ terminal for storage of products, packaging and labeling, pre-shipment inspection and fumigation of export designated goods in preparation for ultimate transportation to the Ports.
As Kogi State gears up to host this sublime economic infrastructure, there is no doubt this is one milestone that will change the face of Kogi State’s socio-economic prosperity as the North-Central state will become the hub for exporters in Nigeria’s northern region. Hon. Tajudeen Bisimilahi, an entrepreneur and a political pillar in Kogi State through a well detailed proposition got an approval from the management of NEPC to situate a DEW in Kogi State. With the closeness of Kogi State to some part of Nigeria’s Eastern Region, this Domestic Export Warehouse in Kogi State will undoubtedly become the cynosure of investors and exporters in the mineral-rich state.
Nigeria has been unable to convert its enormous comparative advantage in the production of several agricultural primary produce to competitive advantage in the global market as a result of supply chain constraints. This led NEPC to propose the setting up of DEW to mitigate export related supply chains.
Once operational, DEW will,
👉increase the global market share for Nigerian exportable agricultural products,
👉generate and help in the diversification of the economy,
👉attract investors to the non-oil sectors
👉and provide a platform for interface between export-related agencies and export practitioners.
Going by this new giant stride by Hon. Tajudeen Bisimilahi, Kogi State will not only attract more foreign investors, but will also be creating many more direct and indirect jobs across the state through the intervention of the DEW.

Hon. Tajudeen Bisimilahi in company of the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr (Mrs) Folashade Arike Ayoade, and Hon. Ahmodu Jibrin, Special Adviser to the Governor on Youths Empowerment and Students Affairs, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to top officials at NEPC. The visit was in furtherance of Kogi State’s readiness to effectively facilitate the DEW which will be handled by Harris Logistics, an indigenous reputable company Chaired by Hon. Tajudeen Bisimilahi.
